Through the Partner Program, senior citizens in need of a companion animal or special-needs individuals requesting an animal for service or companionship can apply to adopt, with a waived fee.
Companionship offers more than just comfort—it provides a sense of purpose, emotional support, and unconditional love. For seniors, a pet can bring joy to daily life, ease loneliness, and even improve mental and physical health. For special-needs individuals, a companion animal can offer stability, security, and a connection that fosters confidence and independence.
At the same time, this program gives homeless animals a second chance. Many of these pets have faced abandonment, neglect, or hardship, and finding a loving home transforms their lives just as much as it does for their adopters.
Participants in the Partner Program are given the Alaqua Animal Refuge Partners Promise:
“If you are no longer able to care for your Partners pet, we will accept the animal with open arms and provide it with shelter and love until the perfect adopter comes along—no matter if it takes days, months, or years.”
