Age: Adult Male
Huey is a good, loyal companion who would thrive in a home that either a) has experience with ACDs or) has land/farm for him to play on. Unlike typical cattle dogs, he is not high energy, although he loves to fetch. He mainly needs mental stimulation or a designated job. He knows basic commands such as sit, stay, lay down, and crate. He learns new commands very quickly because he wants to please and is food motivated. He is vocal when he wants or needs something, similar to a husky, and has a very strong herding instinct (he herds our other dog, cat, and has herded kids before). As ACDs do, he nips when he herds and is prone to intense staring too. He gets along well with other dogs and cats, but I’m not sure about young children because he nips. I’m sure with time and training, he would make a good family pet. He has a heart murmur, but the vet has assured us that it is not an issue. Additionally, he is allergic to wheat, so we feed him grain-free kibble. We are seeking a new home for him only because we are expecting our first child and know we cannot provide the stimulation or attention he needs. We want what is best for this sweet and loving boy and our family too.
