Riley

Aug 18, 2024

Age: Adult Female
We have fostered her as long as we can. I can no longer care for Riley. She is fully vaccinated and She is spayed. She was abandoned and we took her to vet. No chip and no one claimed her. We have been fostering her but can no longer keep her. I just wanted her to find a good home. Riley is a smart energetic dog. She is not for toddlers. Ages 8 and older is best for her. She gets so nervous around young children. I have started caring for my small grand children and she gets nervous and snips at them. I have to keep her away from them. Riley is 45 pounds and 3 years old and will make a great companion for someone home all day. But she is a inside dog. She would do better with someone home all day. She is a great farm dog. Once she knows you she will never leave your sight. We don't have a fenced in yard and she always stays near. You will have to come to Bristol Fl. to meet her. She showed up at our house and we took her in. I took her to the vet and she is now fully vaccinated including heart guard and on the flea pill. I took her to Blountstown Critter Care for her veterinarian care. She is fixed. She is house broken, sleeps in her kennel at night. She is an active dog and needs someone to go on walks with her or just play with her daily. She loves for you to throw the frisbee and will catch it most every time. She enjoys bringing her treat ball to you to put a treat in it. When she wants your attention she will come lay her head on your leg. She can be trained easily not to go into certain rooms of the house. Riley Is such a lover. She would lay in your lap if you let her. She would sleep in the bed with you if you let her. But she is happy just sleeping near you or laying near you on the floor in her bed or kennel. She loves to play tug a war with her toys with you She loves for you to throw her tennis ball. She loves to be brushed and petted for hours. She loves the frisbee. She will run and catch it in the air and bring back to you. She has some manners as sit, stay, no, go to bed, go outside, go for a bath. She takes a bath well in the shower. Riley can be happy for hours laying in her bed watching you if your sitting on couch. She just like to be near you. She is not an excessive barker. She is a good guard dog. She will let you know when someone comes up. That's about the only time she barks. But when she does it sounds vicious. She is very nervous around other animals but if one in home it takes her about 2 weeks before she will not run from them or actually look them in the eye. It takes her over a week to feel comfortably with the other dogs to be part of the pack. Then she has so much fun with them. She has been around cats and small dogs but take time to get to know them. She does not chase our cows but will chase a squirrel or rabbit. She will chase the squirrel up a tree and bark at it for hours if you let her. Her bad manner is jumping on you. We have been trying to work with her but she gets so excited to see you. She will jump on other people when she get to know them she excited to see them. She does do well on a leash most of the time. She is scared of big box trucks for some reason like the UPS or Fed Ex trucks. She barks and runs. When delivery are dropped off on porch her bark sounds as if she going to eat them but she just runs. She will open doors if you have the lever type doorknob. She is very smart. She LOVES riding around in the side by side or golf cart. She will go anywhere with you in the car. Just say Load Up and she there. Short trips or long. She loves to ride in the car. She traveled with us on a 8 hour trip and was well behaved. She does not like riding in the open air back of a truck. She does not get on your furniture. She will let you know when she needs to go outside to do her business. She is funny how she has to go away from the house to poop. She has never pooped near or around the house only pee. She does not chew on anything but her toys and maybe a stick. She sleeps in her bed or kennel inside at night. She will wake you up if she needs to go outside. She is very skittish to new people. It takes her some time to warm up to you. But once she does she is all about you. She is to skittish to be around young children. I expect someone interested in her to come meet her. She will not leave with you she is to scared of new people. Really she won't jump in the car with you. She will have to get to know you before she will get in the car with you. But once you are her human she is very attentive to you and will follow you everywhere. You will have to come to Bristol, Fl to meet her. We would like a vet reference. We really need to find her forever home soon. We are looking for a foster home for her till she can find her forever home. We can't foster her any longer. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. We just want her personality to shine.
